From the Booklist
Stern, a CFP and financial analyst, wrote a book based on his own experiences that was one of the first to emerge from the stock market’s ashes. He simplifies the foundations of investing into digestible chunks of knowledge. A straightforward yet comprehensive description of the economic cycle and the economy, together with important indicators, is one example. Another is his stock-picking advice, which covers everything from traditional errors to comparisons done correctly.
Information on identifying the trends, together with checklists and some excellent suggestions, is yet another. He quickly adds two disclaimers: he promotes disciplined investing (e.g., reviewing holdings once a month) and he maintains that no one person or corporation can accurately forecast the likelihood of a recession or business contraction. Humor and humility are unusual qualities in writing. Jacobs, Barbara
