Drew Day

Drew Day is the founder and president of Base Camp Trading, an international speaker and 16-year hedge fund veteran that has been involved with various hedge funds that have raised and managed over $6.5 billion in assets. He has been involved with systematic trading and portfolio management for more than 16 years. He focused on trading the global futures markets, following a systematic, low leveraged and highly diversified trading regiment. As a Commodity Trading Advisor (CTA), he traded 40 individual futures markets across eight different sectors. Drew has been a featured speaker at Bloomberg Markets in London and
New York and is featured as a leading industry expert in the book “A Visual Guide to Hedge Funds” published by Bloomberg Wiley. He is also involved in proprietary trading and owns his own proprietary trading firm that focuses on quantitative, behavioral and machine learning trading systems.
Brian Strong
Vice President and Head of Development
Brian Strong serves as the VP and Head of Development at Base Camp Trading. Over the past two decades, he has built a wide-ranging career in software engineering, working on everything from mobile gaming platforms to hedge fund technology. A graduate of North Carolina State University, Brian holds bachelor’s degrees in both Computer Science and Biological Sciences. In addition to his development work, he is deeply involved in proprietary trading, creating and programming quantitative, behavioral, and machine learning-based trading models.
Dave Aquino
Professional Trader and Portfolio Manager
With more than 20 years of hands-on market experience, Dave Aquino has built a successful career as both a trader and portfolio manager. Beginning at Merrill Lynch, he went on to oversee more than $650 million in assets at Vanguard Asset Management, where he specialized in income-generating options strategies. Dave earned his degree from Vanderbilt University and is now a partner at Base Camp Trading. His focus is on teaching clients how to trade options for consistent income, and he also contributes to proprietary trading initiatives.
Thomas Wood
Professional Trader and Hedge Fund Manager
Thomas Wood brings over a decade of trading expertise, having worked in both personal and professional roles, including as a hedge fund manager. Starting his career in wealth management, he launched his own hedge fund at 26 and later became head trader at MicroQuant. Today, Thomas is a partner at Base Camp Trading, where he is known for his globally recognized price action trading methods. He also develops advanced trading systems that integrate quantitative analysis, behavioral finance, and machine learning.
John Osborn
Trading Analyst and Instructor
At Base Camp Trading, John Osborn fulfills multiple roles as a trading analyst, instructor, and developer. He regularly appears in trading rooms, guiding members on opportunities aligned with BCT strategies. John also creates trading indicators, strategies, and documentation to support the community. With over 20 years in trading and a background in software engineering, he has designed human-machine interfaces for submarine systems for the U.S. Department of Defense and managed large-scale projects in the pharmaceutical sector. John has also taught computer science at the collegiate level.
Minh Le
Client Support Lead
Minh Le heads the Client Support team, ensuring that members receive timely help with technical and product-related issues. Known for his dedication to customer service, Minh also has a strong background in technical programming, enabling him to assist clients with setting up and configuring BCT indicators. He studied programming at Wake Technical Community College.
Jeff Joostema
Member Relations
As a dedicated member of Base Camp Trading, Jeff Joostema focuses entirely on guiding new members through the platform’s features and trading strategies. A former University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill athlete in football and wrestling, Jeff graduated with a degree in Business. Before joining BCT, he built a thriving career as an entrepreneur. Having been with the trading community for many years, Jeff actively trades both futures and options.
