With the guidance and support of David Bowden himself, we’re hard at work behind the scenes building a refreshed version of Safety in the Market.
Our mission is simple — to develop a space where aspiring traders can come to master the skills needed to trade confidently and competently. David Bowden
Since its inception in 1989, David Bowden has been recognized as a leading expert in Gann trading principles. Interestingly, his journey to becoming an educator wasn’t part of the original plan. During a trip to the United States in the 1980s, while attending a trading seminar, he realized just how much knowledge he had gained — and felt inspired to share it.
What began as a single seminar in Buderim, Queensland with just 15 attendees turned into something much bigger. Word spread fast about David’s deep grasp of Gann’s work and the consistent success he was achieving in his own trading. Soon after, he was being contacted by financial publications for market commentary. Mentions in Stocks and Commodities and the Research Technology newsletter elevated his profile, and Safety in the Market was officially born.
David often credits trading with giving him a rich and fulfilling life. If you ever had the chance to attend one of his live seminars or meet him in person, you may have heard the story where he told his wife, Pauline, to go find a new house — which he later paid for in cash from a single week’s trading, thanks to the Time by Degrees strategy.
After taking time away from the business, we’re thrilled to have him back, actively guiding the new chapter of Safety in the Market. Whether mentoring our team on teaching his methods more effectively or diving under the hood of a vintage car with his mechanic, David brings his signature passion to everything he does.
His impressive car collection, which includes more than 70 classic vehicles, is well-known in the automotive world. If you’re a car enthusiast, you might spot him at a local or international car event, showcasing one of his rare gems for fellow fans to enjoy.
