George Bernard Shaw once said, “People always blame circumstances. I don’t believe in circumstances. The people who succeed are those who look for the circumstances they want, and if they can’t find them, create them.” Jeanette’s remarkable career as a floor trader and hedger at the New York Board of Trade perfectly illustrates this philosophy.
As a CFA and FRM, I had the privilege of meeting Jeanette at a recent New York Society of Security Analysts event. I was struck by her intelligence, practicality, warmth, and openness. She shared that writing is her way of giving back, which is why she diligently produces daily market commentary for both the NYBOT website and her own site.
I couldn’t put her book down—even after a long day balancing my professional work and my responsibilities as a mother. Through the vivid examples and illustrations in her book, Jeanette expands our view of what’s possible in the options market. With a solid grasp of her teachings and the right mindset, readers are well-prepared to pursue their own success in options trading.

Not worth the time and money
I’ve traded options for many years and am always searching for quality resources. Unfortunately, this book fell short for me. I found the content thin, and after only a few pages, I struggled to continue. I did skip ahead to sections that seemed promising, but they too were disappointing. While I believe the author is experienced and knowledgeable, the writing lacks depth, with too much focus on trading floor anecdotes and not enough explanation of the trades or strategies themselves.

Very Accessible
This book worked well for me because it simplified the often confusing jargon of options and futures into plain language that a non-expert can follow. The illustrations added a light, amusing touch, though I couldn’t find any other books illustrated by the same artist.
(And yes—I’d better be over 13 to leave this review, because I’m on E-Trade! Remember, kids: don’t let kids trade stocks!)
