President and Co-Founder
Drew Dayis a 16-year hedge fund veteran and international speaker who founded and serves as president of Base Camp Trading. He has worked with a number of hedge funds that have raised and managed more than $6.5 billion in assets. He has over 16 years of experience managing a portfolio and engaging in systematic trading. He concentrated on trading the international futures markets using a methodical, low-leverage, and extremely diversified trading strategy. He traded forty different futures markets in eight distinct industries while working as a Commodity Trading Advisor (CTA). Drew is listed as a top industry expert in the book “A Visual Guide to Hedge Funds,” which was published by Bloomberg Wiley, and has spoken at Bloomberg Markets in London and New York. In addition, he has his own proprietary trading company that specializes in machine learning, behavioral, and quantitative trading methods.
Brian Strong
Vice President and Head of Development
Brian Strong is the VP and Head of Development at Base Camp Trading. Brian has a diverse 20 year career in software engineering with projects ranging from mobile gaming to hedge fund software. He is a graduate of North Carolina State University with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Biological Sciences. Brian is also heavily involved in proprietary trading, developing and coding quantitative, behavioral and machine learning trading systems.
Dave Aquino
Pro Trader and Portfolio Manager
Dave Aquino is an experienced trader who has managed a portfolio and traded for more than 20 years. After beginning his career at Merrill Lynch, he went on to manage more than $650 million in assets for Vanguard Asset Management, where he focused on options income techniques. He graduated from Vanderbilt University as well. As a partner at Base Camp Trading, Dave focuses on teaching customers how to trade options for profit. Additionally, Dave engages in a lot of proprietary trading.
Thomas Wood
Pro Trader and Hedge Fund Manager
Thomas Wood is a professional trader with over 12 years of experience trading the markets, both personally and professionally as a hedge fund manager. He started his career at a wealth management firm, created a hedge fund at the age of 26 and eventually settled as a head trader at MicroQuant. Thomas is a partner at Base Camp Trading and specializes in helping traders simplify the markets by understanding is world-renowned price action trading strategies. Thomas also develops quantitative, behavioral, and machine learning based trading systems.
John Osborn
Trading Analyst and Instructor
John Osborn works for Base Camp Trading in a variety of capacities. You can occasionally find him in the trading rooms as an instructor and trade analyst. To assist BCT members and clients in locating trading opportunities that complement our trading tactics, John also creates trading indicators, strategies, and documentation. John has been a software engineer and trader for more than 20 years. He has expertise managing projects and project management roles at a major pharmaceutical business, as well as building human-machine interfaces for submarine systems for the Department of Defense. John has also taught computer science at a university.

Jeff Joostema is a Base Camp Trading member who is entirely committed to assisting new members in comprehending the different features and trading techniques that Base Camp Trading teaches. Jeff earned a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, where he also played football and wrestled. Jeff had established a prosperous business career before Base Camp Trading. Jeff has traded both futures and options and has been a member of Base Camp Trading for a very long time.
